Well I was determined to take the cart out a couple Sundays back. I rode the BART to Macarthur Station and then proceeded to walk towards the bay, along the water, and then eventually to the Ashby BART Station.
I walked out of Macarthur and immediately met a taxi driver who asked about the cart. We ended up talking with him still seated in his cab and me perched in his window while holding onto the cart with my outside hand. I wanted to pull out my microphone but the conversation happened naturally and the strong wind would have destroyed any attempt at sound quality. George had been driving his taxi that day for about 5 hours and only managed to profit $23. His family owned a corner store which they operated for nearly a decade but six months ago a CVS pharmacy moved in and they couldn't compete and had to close. After talking with George I walked to the water thinking about his story and about the purpose of Nomadic Ground. How can I construct a strong podcast that can be the 'ear to the ground' so to speak?
